Fires hit Riau, total 426 hotspots in June

EoF News (PEKANBARU) – Riau province is raged by forest and land fires where EoF analyzed based on NASA Firms Eosdis Data that total 426 fires hostspots detected during June 2015. Pelalawan is the district mostly detected by the fires hotspot that followed by Rokan Hilir and Bengkalis. While, Arara Abadi, Satria Perkasa Agung, RAPP also notched as mostly timber concessions hit by hotspots along with palm oil concession Sindora Raya and Bumi Reksa Nusa Sejati.

Not only on paper, sustainable commitment needs evidence on the ground

PEKANBARU, 5 June 2015 --- Commitment on Sustainable Forest Management Policy (SFMP) 2.0 that recently launched by Asia Pacific Resources International Limited (APRIL) on 3 June 2015 is not a blank cheque nor a public relation stunt as usual to business world and public in whole. It is indeed a concept on paper that must be applied on the ground and it needs a tight monitoring by stakeholders, an NGO coalition say.
