Pekanbaru (EoF News) – Coalition of three environmental NGOs in Riau, Eyes on the Forest, releases Investigative Report July 2006 today. The EoF’s investigation found violation allegedly perpetrated by both Asia Pacific Resources International Holdings Limited (APRIL) and Asia Pulp & Paper (APP).
EoF has sent a confirmation letter on the July 2006 findings to APRIL and APP, where the first responded it. APP does not reply such a letter.
The July 2006 investigation conducted in Kerumutan and Bukit Tigapuluh Block, in concessions of PT Mitra Kembang Selaras, CV Cenaku Indah, and PT Citra Sumber Sejahtera. Inside concessions of MKS and CSS, EoF has conducted three investigations following since March and February 2005 respectively.
Inside overlapping concessions of revoked industrial timber plantation concession of PT Chandra Dirgantara, CV Cenaku Indah conducted illegal activities. This concession contributed to 52 hotspots during July 2006 and soared to 529 hotspots within next three months.
